Education

Salesforce.org supports education investments that equip students with the support and skills they need to take advantage of opportunities today and tomorrow.

Investing in Education

Investing in Education

We believe equality starts with education. When students are in school, engaged in learning, and prepared for tomorrow, they trailblaze towards a brighter future.

But too many students don’t have access to an education that prepares them for tomorrow. Our investments aim to improve the quality of schools and opportunities in the communities where we live and work so that more students can thrive in tomorrow’s workforce.

Values

Values

At Salesforce.org, three core values drive our education grant-making:

Equity - We invest in projects that improve the opportunities and outcomes for underserved students
Community - We partner with grantees to address the most pressing needs relevant to the communities we work in
Student outcomes - We ask our grantees to measure their impact on students and measure outcomes that matter

Grants

Grants

Our largest grants are with U.S. school districts but we also fund regional and national non-profits in the U.S. and abroad with a focus on where we live and work.

We invest in the following areas:

  • Academic success
  • Educator support
  • College and career
  • Whole child

For the 2019-2020 school year, Salesforce announced $18.2 Million in grants to San Francisco and Oakland School Districts and Education Nonprofits.

Academic Success

Academic Success

At Salesforce.org, we fund projects that expand quality STEM curriculum and experiences to ensure the next generation of tech-enabled jobs can be accessed by a more diverse and equitable workforce.

We support the growth of the Bridge 21’s CodePlus Program at Trinity College where girls learn to code through workshops and industry professional speaker series.

Academic Success

Educator Support

Educator Support

Having diverse, high quality educators is vital to students’ success. We support organizations that work to attract, retain, and promote teachers and principals that are working to improve student learning in public schools.

The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is working to recruit teachers to hard-to-staff middle schools through a partnership with New York University, providing student-teachers with a full-year residency model including special seminars tailored to preparing the future teachers of SFUSD.

College and Career

College and Career

Too often students leave high school without sufficient exposure or preparation to be successful in college and in the workforce. We fund entities that are setting K12 students up for success in college and into the workforce.

Our work in Indianapolis Public Schools is helping launch an Information Technology Academy at George Washington High School for the 2018-2019 school year. This type of career academy give students hands-on, experiential learning opportunities in high-wage, high-demand job sectors.

Whole Child

Whole Child

Students’ core needs must be met in order for them to learn, but too often the health, safety and wellness of students is overlooked for academic outcomes.

The Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) offers targeted support to newcomer students - those in their first three years in U.S. schools - through hands-on social workers and clinical case managers.

Volunteering in Schools

Volunteering in Schools

We believe caring adults and professional role models make a difference for students and we encourage our employees to get involved with local schools. Our volunteerism helps students and educators see the careers and industries of the future.

Circle the Schools

Via our global program Circle the Schools - and in partnership with local educational non-profits- we match teams of employees with local schools to bring additional resources and ensure that students have opportunities to learn about different career opportunities. Salesforce employees have contributed 200K+ volunteering hours from running office tours, campus beautification projects, school fundraisers, career panels, tutoring, coding, robotics and makerspace clubs.
