Outbox Incubator – Day 1 at the House

By Salesforce.org July 29, 2015

Monday 27th July marked the start of something really special; something we’re really proud to play a little part in; it’s an initiative that’s offering girls with big ideas and even bigger talent the personal and professional tools to kick start their STEM business ideas!

OUTBOX Incubator

Outbox Incubator is a programme developed by Stemettes that aims to increase the number of girls actively involved in STEM. Anne-Marie Imafidon, Founder of Stemettes says: “I’m honoured to have been able to see this crazy idea become a reality.”

Over the next 6 weeks 110 young women, aged 11-22 from across Europe, will gather at ‘the house’ in London to engage in a series of activities and workshops that will support and help grow their unique STEM based business ideas.

Meeting the girls for the first time at Monday’s launch, Mayor of Lambeth, Donatus Anyanwu said:“These are the most inspiring young women I’ve ever met in one place at the same time. The future is bright with you all here.”

Monday

Spirits were high as ‘Outbox Executives’ got their first taste of the Incubator. Co-creation and Collaboration was the first port of call, followed by sessions on Coding and Marketing Strategy. Sessions have been developed to meet the individual needs of the Outbox Executives; some wanting to enhance their coding skills, while others requiring more scientific and/ or business skills to help launch their businesses.

OUTBOX Incubator

Salesforce.org has been involved with Outbox Incubator from early on as its Founding Partner. Philip Kenley, Programme Manager at Salesforce.org  says: “We are honoured to have been involved with the project from the beginning and we really believe in it. We remember several months ago when Stemettes first approached us with the idea; we just had to say yes.”

Some of the sessions participants will take part in over the coming weeks include: Product Development, Personal Development, Marketing, Business Development and Money. They will also be receiving support, mentorship and funding for their ideas. Nearly 40 Salesforce employees will be actively involved in the programme as session leads, mentors, and downtime supervisors.

Salesforce UK Director of Solution Engineering, Diana Terry gave one of the first sessions in the house: “What a remarkable experience to prepare and teach some of the brightest minds here in London; I am speechless, humbled and excited by the future of the world and what they bring.”

During the 6 week period, there’ll also be time for a little break away from the action with Acroyoga offered as a fun way to re-focus and re-energise!
