One Million Meals Delivered on World Food Day
By: Karen Sanders Noe’, Corporate Relations Director, Stop Hunger Now
Dreamforce is about innovation, fun, and giving back and this year the community has definitely delivered on giving back! This morning, we surpassed the one million meals donated mark! And with matching contributions from Marc Benioff and Tony Robbins, Salesforce.org will deliver more than 3 million meals!
Starting on Monday, Dreamforce participants came out in full force to package meals for those in need – pushing Dreamforce 75,000 meals closer to the #DFGives One Million Meals goal. In just 3 hours hundreds of volunteers packaged tens of thousands of nutritious meals to support those suffering from hunger around the world. Teaming with Stop Hunger Now, these meals will be delivered through schools, orphanages and feeding centers to support transformational development within communities suffering from limited food resources and poverty.
Each Stop Hunger Now meal provides a strong incentive to send children to school and keep them there, allowing them to focus on their studies rather than their stomachs. School enrollment doubles when food is provided and girls enrollment increases — helping to pave a path out of the seemingly endless cycle of poverty.
With today, October 16th, marking World Food Day, and October marking World Hunger Action Month, we encourage everyone in the Salesforce community to continue striving toward a world without hunger. Help us honor this day and fight on behalf of the 805 million people who suffer from chronic hunger daily, by starting a #DFGives fundraising campaign and inviting your friends and colleagues to give.
With hands-on programs that give back like Stop Hunger Now, Dreamforce has inspired us to continue to do good, long after Dreamforce is over. You can reach out to Stop Hunger Now at www.stophungernow.org and learn how you and your company, friends and family can join the fight against global hunger no matter where you live.
