The Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP) Community Contributor Highlights – Meet Katie McFadden
“The Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP) Community Contributor Highlights” blog series features a NPSP community member every month to showcase the many ways the community is getting involved with NPSP.
Give us a little background on who you are.
My name is Katie McFadden and I’m the Director of Professional Services at Swift River Consulting. I broke into the Salesforce world as a scrappy college grad working at a nonprofit student exchange organization. A few years later, I worked with a South African implementation partner in Cape Town before returning to San Francisco. I’m fascinated with both the human and technical aspects of nonprofit consulting, with a particular interest in community and travel.
Why do you contribute to the Nonprofit Starter Pack?
My college career advisor said to pick an industry where you like the work and more importantly, where you like the type of people who do that work. I have to say, I like you guys. I think the nonprofit Salesforce space attracts capable, creative, resourceful and kind-hearted people. I’m right in my element working alongside inspiring people to solve challenging and meaningful problems.
What contribution are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of starting the Consumer Reports group in the HUB. We’ve published a few comparison spreadsheets to show the differences between apps and we have a lot more in the pipeline as well. Every time a community member offers to review an app for the group, my heart does a little dance. Sometimes I’ll make an update to one of our Google spreadsheets and I’ll see those anonymous animal icons showing that other people are in there looking things up. Success!
