New in the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP): Batch Data Import Enhancements & Getting Started Resources

Continuously innovating is at the core of what we do at Salesforce.org. Today, we’re excited to share new batch data import enhancements and getting started resources for the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP).
Batch Data Import Enhancements
Nonprofit teams need to constantly manage sophisticated donation and campaign data. From program managers to development officers, managing this data effectively is at the core of success.
Much of this data comes in the form of spreadsheets. Nonprofit teams import spreadsheets that include Contact, Address, Donation, and Campaign information in a single row, which at times can be complex to translate to Salesforce. Our batch data import tools simplify this process considerably for nonprofit admins and help them efficiently manage the regular import of large batches of data.
With new enhancements to our existing batch data import tools, organizations can now create batches that fit their individual needs, schedule them to run automatically, and manage batch post processing tasks, allowing for more efficient donation and campaign management, reporting and donor follow up.
Batching: Setup and process donation import batches with specific configurations. This is useful for organizations that have donations coming in from multiple events, campaigns or integrations.
Scheduling: Process batches in the scheduled tasks that NPSP does each night or configure a new time, date or frequency. This allows administrators to save time by not having to manually process records and instead automate processes even further.
Custom Post Processing: After batch records are processed, perform additional tasks based on an organization’s custom Apex code. Examples include additional filtering, record updates or creation, or relationship creation between records.
Want to make use of these enhancements? Take a look at the NPSP Advanced User’s Guide to Importing Data for step-by-step instructions and an interesting use case.
If you’re new to the data import process or want step-by-step instructions for how to import data into NPSP, see NPSP Administrator’s Guide to Importing Donor Data.
New NPSP Getting Started Page
In addition to batch data import enhancements, we’re excited to introduce a new resource page to help you get started with Salesforce.org’s NPSP. The new NPSP Getting Started page is your one stop resource page for new and existing customers. Easily access important NPSP resources including Trailhead Trails, the Power of Us Community, and how-to videos through YouTube.
Every two weeks, the page will dynamically update based on the latest package release, so you can be sure to stay up to date on the latest and greatest coming from Salesforce.org. In order to take advantage of this great new asset, you need to make sure the Remote Site is active in your org. Doing so is as easy as 1-5:
-
1. Go to Setup
2. Search for “Remote Site Settings”
3. Click Edit next to SFDO Endpoints
4. Ensure that the Active box is checked
5. Click Save.
