Gift Entry ManagerToday, we are happy to announce the U.S. launch* of Gift Entry Manager (GEM), the gift processing application focused on the needs of higher education advancement. Now available in addition to current advancement offerings developed on the Salesforce Education Cloud platform by our partner third-party software companies, GEM delivers extensible pledge and gift management in the cloud.

Built on the world’s #1 CRM, GEM enables advancement teams to capture all of the detail and complexity involved in recording gifts and provides the flexibility to work efficiently, but in a way that’s unique to an institution’s business processes. Once gift information is captured through GEM, teams can leverage the power and capabilities of the broader Salesforce ecosystem to gather new insights, steward donors, and engage alumni and other constituents in new and meaningful ways.

GEM combines the fundraising technology used by some of the largest nonprofits with our Education Data Architecture (EDA). GEM also leverages Batch Gift Entry (BGE) which offers a grid interface for high volume, mouse-free data entry, the ability to process large batch files on one page and prevent duplicate information using advanced donation matching and selection. Enhanced accounting capabilities are also supported in GEM, so finance and advancement offices can work together for reconciliation, but remain focused on the data most important to their functions.

Even before the original announcement at Dreamforce 2017 to today, our investment in GEM’s development has been and will continue to be driven by the invaluable feedback from our growing community of higher education customers. They have been central in helping to shape various components of GEM, including the single gift entry form, BGE, payment allocations, accounting features, and more.

It’s been great to see so much interest from the community and we want to extend a special thank you to those that have participated in bringing GEM to what it represents today: a purpose-built solution for one of the most pivotal functions of higher education advancement operations.

It’s an amazing time for advancement teams, and GEM is just one of the ways that Salesforce.org is innovating in how today’s advancement teams drive fundraising, stewardship and engagement. As this is our first major release of GEM, we look forward to an ongoing cadence of development and enhancements.
