Community Hero Ashima Saigal

“To participate is to be a part of a larger community of open-minded and eager-hearted individuals. I learn much from this community and feel called to help others. When I take on a question, I hope that I can embed this information in my brain. When I share some information, I hope it gets a good dialogue going that goes deeper.”
– Ashima Saigal
We are celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Power of Us HUB by recognizing 30 community members who have been instrumental in supporting the growing community of nonprofit and higher ed Salesforce users.
Today’s community hero is Ashima Saigal (@gandhilover), Founder of Database Sherpa. Ashima is a top contributor in the Power of Us HUB where she has answered hundreds of questions over the last year. When she isn’t providing thoughtful guidance to nonprofits in the HUB, she is co-leading the Michigan Nonprofit User Group and helping to organize Salesforce certification study groups in the HUB. In fact, Ashima, with her Girlforce collaborators, helped to drive forward the very first Salesforce certification study group in the HUB earlier this year. We love seeing Hubbers help each other build their skills in service of their careers. And we love seeing the impact Ashima has had in the community. THANK YOU Ashima!
Who are you (in 250 words or less)?
“I come from a mix of eastern philosophies and western living; thus my strong desire to work with technology and my Zen way of being. I founded Database Sherpa to help organizations find peace with their data, and developed a “Sherpa Approach” to guide organizations to use their own skills and knowledge to develop their databases using the Salesforce platform. Database Sherpa is not just a business for me—it’s a community of people who are interested in using technology to shape organizations.”
How long have you been working with Salesforce products?
“Since 2008.”
What quick tip would you give someone getting started with Salesforce?
“Don’t be afraid that you will break it! Dive in with all the gusto you can muster and then, when you get stuck, ask the community. We’re here for you!”
As a thank-you for all Ashima has done for the community over the last year, the Foundation is donating $250 to a nonprofit of her choosing.
