Community Hero Amanda Byrne

By Salesforce.org August 2, 2014

“Nonprofit techs take on a world of challenges that are mysterious, over-simplified magic to their coworkers. It’s isolating. The Salesforce community connects mission-driven tech colleagues, providing professional validation that is sometimes hard to find ‘at home.’ ”
– Amanda Byrne

Amanda ByrneWe are celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Power of Us HUB by recognizing 30 community members (one each day in the month of August) who have been instrumental in supporting the growing community of nonprofit and higher ed Salesforce users.

Today’s community hero is Amanda Byrne, IT Administrator at Carolina Tiger Rescue, a nonprofit organization that rescues animals, primarily wildcats, and provides conservation education to the public.  While Amanda is relatively new to Salesforce, she is a top contributor in the HUB, both asking her own questions as well as providing real-world tips, tricks and answers to hundreds of other HUB members.  She has often gone that extra mile to share or connect with other nonprofit users in need. Coming from a small nonprofit organization where there are never enough resources and never enough time, it can be difficult to give back to the community, so THANK YOU Amanda for being a part of making us all more successful.

Who are you (in 250 words or less)?

“As the IT Administrator at Carolina Tiger Rescue, I get to share the sentience, magnificence, and significance of big cats with the world so they will receive the respect and stewardship they deserve. Salesforce has become the most important tool in my toolbox to make this happen, so I’m a huge Salesforce fan AND NOW a Salesforce Certified Administrator!”

How long have you been working with Salesforce products?
“Since 2012.”

What quick tip would you give someone getting started with Salesforce?

“Just keep identifying specific problems and seeking the answers in the community and online – if it’s not there, there’s a good chance you’ll contribute to a new solution, cause these people listen!”

As a thank-you for all Amanda has done for the community over the last year, the Foundation is donating $250 to Carolina Tiger Rescue.
